Isobond® GE 88 is a glycidyl ether used as a rubber-to-fabric adhesion promoter in pre-dips for the treatment of tire cord and reinforcing fabric. It has excellent water solubility which greatly enhances both the production process and the final product.

ISOBOND® GE 88 is used as a rubber to fabric adhesion promoter in combination with blocked isocyanates (i.e. Kagebond^® DM-50, Isobond® P, IsoQure® TT).

Typical application is as a pre-dip in the double dip process producing polyester tyre cord and reinforcing fabrics.

Isobond® GE 88 disperses in water very easily, drastically reducing the amount of time needed to prepare cord dips. These dips can now be used instantly, so they do not degrade during prolonged stirring or preparation.

Isobond® GE 88 not only saves time and material during manufacturing, it also enhances the strength of the product. Tests have shown that the glycidyl ether compound attaches to the cord tighter and much more evenly compared to other GE adhesion promoters. This greatly increases the quality of the rubber-to-fabric adhesion process, allowing for stronger bond and reinforcement of the fabric.
